I have a three month old HP DV7-3085dx which suddenly stopped shutting down correctly. I hangs at the "shutting down" screen. I have to power it down manually to shut it off then of course I get the message that windows shut down incorrectly. I'm at my wits end with this. Today I restored the laptop for the fourth time back to when it was new. I used Mozbackup and even that didn't work with the Thunderbird backup so I lost all my contacts. It worked fine with the Firefox backup. I'm attaching the file that was in the minidump directory as several other posters were instructed to do. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Doc and welcome
This crash was caused by your hpdskflt.sys driver, hpdskflt.sys is a driver for the onboard mobile data protection sensor. It should be re-installed from HP. You also have some drivers as old as 2005 that in themselves can cause this. They also should be updated. Especially the ones in red and any critical component like RAID, network, etc.
I left you a little help to find drivers.

HP had me do another restore yesterday and right now it's working again. I think it's just a matter of time before it bombs out again. I had turned off "automatic updates" in both Windows and also the HP advisor, but see this morning that it is back on. I'm not sure but it seems when Windows does an update, that is about the time that the problem begins. I'll play it by ear and re-post if I continue to have problems. I do appreciate the your help.
