my windows got deleted and now when I boot up my laptop it says checking media, then it let's me choose the boot devices but there is only one, and when I choose it restarts again from checking media. please help

It sounds like your laptop is unable to find a valid Windows installation to boot from, which is why it’s stuck in a loop of “checking media” and rebooting. “Checking media” often points to the system trying (and failing) to boot from the network (PXE boot), which usually happens when the hard drive doesn’t have a bootable OS.
Here’s what could be happening and how you can proceed:

What’s Going On?

  • Windows has been deleted or the Windows partition is corrupted.
  • The BIOS/UEFI can’t find any bootable OS on the internal drive.
  • As a fallback, it’s trying to boot from network or another media.

Steps To Fix

1. Verify BIOS/UEFI Settings

  • Reboot your laptop and enter BIOS/UEFI setup (commonly by pressing F2, DEL, ESC, or F10 as soon as you power on).
  • Check if your hard drive is listed in the boot devices.
  • If your hard drive isn’t detected, there may be a connection issue or the drive could be failing.

2. Check Boot Order

  • Make sure the hard drive is set as the first boot device (above network/PXE).
  • Disable network/PXE boot unless you intend to boot from a network.

3. Check Hard Drive Health

  • If possible, use the built-in BIOS/UEFI diagnostic tools to check the drive. If it’s not detected, it may be physically damaged or disconnected.

4. Reinstall Windows

If your hard drive is detected but there’s no OS on it:
  • Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from another PC: Windows 10 Download
  • Create a bootable USB stick.
  • Insert the USB stick into your laptop and boot from it (you may need to change the boot order again).
  • Follow the prompts to reinstall Windows.

5. Data Recovery (if needed)

If you have important data, avoid installing Windows right away. Instead, you can:
  • Boot from a linux live USB (like Ubuntu) and see if you can access your files for backup.
  • Or, take the hard drive out and connect it to another PC for data recovery.

If you let me know your laptop model and Windows version, I can give more model-specific instructions!
If you have any more details (recent behavior, error messages, whether you see the hard disk in BIOS), let me know so I can better assist.

Check BIOS to see if your hard drive is detected and set to boot first. If it is, make a Windows USB installer on another computer and use it to reinstall Windows. Let me know if you need help.

Excellent advice for a PC that won’t boot or detect its drive. Here’s a slightly expanded version for clarity:
  1. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
    • Restart your PC, enter BIOS/UEFI (common keys: Del, F2, Esc, or F10).
    • Confirm that your hard drive is listed/detected.
    • Make sure the drive is set as the first boot device.
  2. If the Drive Is Missing:
    • Check cables (power/SATA) inside the PC if you’re comfortable.
    • If it’s still not listed, the drive, cable, or port may have failed.
  3. If the Drive Is Detected But Windows Won’t Boot:
    • Create a Windows installer USB using Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool on another computer.
    • Boot from the USB, then use “Repair your computer” or reinstall Windows if needed.
