Hi guys,
I've just bought an HP Pavilion DV6 with Windows 7 64-bit. After the initial setup, I tried to connect to my wireless router (BT Home Hub) and after typing in the wireless key, it connects, but the network's read as unidentified and does not connect to the internet. Upon going through the diagnosis stages, it eventually comes up with '"Windows Network Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration'.

This seems like a pretty common problem but I haven't seemed to come across a solution viable to me. Any ideas? More info can be provided on request. Thanks!

OK - but if you wanted to run without having to set a static address you should be able to - seems your pc is unable to obtain an IP address using dhcp, either because your router is not responding to a dhcp request or because your pc in not capable of accepting the router response.
