Windows Vista Windows Updater Not Working

I am using Vista Business and my windows updater is not working all I get is either a see through box or a white blank page, I even tried doing a repair and it is still not letting me download updates either automatically or manually, any suggestions, I have done 3 different virusscans to make sure I hadn't picked up something and they all came up clean.

The registry must be corrupt or a file has been corrupted. What is the error message you are receiving from Windows Update? Consider using your installation media and doing a repair installation of Windows Vista.
