I am working on a Presario CQ50 running Windows 7 Basic with2 gb ram. It seemed to be working fine the last time I accessed it 2 weeks ago( I don't use it much) Now, when I try to open IE or Firefox I get the error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"
I went to CP>Internet options to check security and content settings and I couldn't even open that..same message...Whatup??? thanks

Hi

Go to control panel, and click on Programs when viewing control panel as categories.

Select Turn Windows features on and off.

Find IE on the list, uncheck it.

Click OK.

Once is is uninstalled go to....

Internet Explorer - Web Browser for Microsoft Windows

Download and reinstall it.

Before you do that you might want to try turning off the User Account Control and see if that solves the permission issue.

Go To setting
and change your account type to administrater
or reinstall IE and fire fox

thanks for the reply, but how do I reinstall IE? I know how to do firefox...
