Tried various fixes online none works the big problem is it is preventing my network adapter from connecting to the internet so that I can update drivers. It has happened before and I fixed it but can't remember how. Any additional information will be provided.

Looks like you need to download and install the software package for your netgear wireless adapter.
If it is
V2
Then you should be able to grab the software you need from here http://downloadcenter.netgear.com/en/product/WNDA3100v2#searchResults
Put it on a thumb drive or burn it to a CD and install it on your problem computer.
Failing that can you simply plug in your wired adapter to your router?
