Just like in the title. I have my Windows 10 installed on the SSD, but when I unplug HDD I can't run the computer. On top of that, in the boot menu I need to have HDD as the first boot option, because if not, the system just doesn't find the OS. And yes, I can find the system files on my SSD.

then the extra hdd you plugged back in must have already had a boot area on it... point the motherboard bios to your ssd as first boot device

Does the SSD have a boot partition, sounds like it doesn't and is using the one from the HDD

I just formatted the ssd and reinstalled Windows on it anew.

You have to unplug the hhd when installing a new os or Windows will default to it for the boot i.e make it so the SSD is the only option until the os is fully installed... Just plug any extra drives back in after
