Windows 7 Dragging icons into taskbar

On xp i could simply drag an icon from the desktop into the taskbar. The Icon would remain on the desktop and the same smaller Icon would go into the taskbar. Now its say something about being "pinned". Huh? I need hep. I anit too smart bout stuff like this.

Not only can it be done as 'dmd' described but, also, hold the rt mouse & any icon can be dragged & dropped to the Taskbar.

Don't say, "I'm dumb", say, "Thanks, I'll do that."
