Windows 7 how can i get volume control on task bar ?

Right click on the Windows 7 orb, select Properties, Task bar, customize and pick which ones you want.

Click on the icons notification area in the tray, or start menu > properties > taskbar, and choose "Customize".

Yes, that's what you need to set for the sound icon, show icon and notifications.
