How many pinned do you have ?

There coud be a limit beyond which you can't pin manually. + you can't pin anything you want.

The limit is enormus, thats certianly not the problem

What are you trying to pin, some items you are not allowed to pin, is it an application, folder, file?

Did you get rid of the arrows on your desktop shortcuts? That will disable the option to pin to the taskbar. If you did here's a way to replace them.

When the pinned shortcuts occupy all the taskbar's space, you can't see the newly pinned items until you get rid of some older ones.
