Hi guys,
I am running W7 64 on a raid0 setup with two 74GB raptors as my C: Recently their performance has begun to wane significantly and now I'm being spammed by S.M.A.R.T. Monitoring saying failure is imminent and to back up immediately. I am not a system builder and while I'm plenty...
Windows has stopped completing backups. A few weeks ago, I bought an external HD and began doing regular backups that completed with no problems. Now I get a message that Windows backup did not complete successfully. Message also says that the drive that Windows is installed on needs at least...
Prior to uninstalling several programs, the unused space on my C DRIVE (3 25 GB SSDs in RAID O), was 12.8 GB. After uninstalling around 1.5 GB, the unused space was REDUCED to 11.9 GB. How does this make sense?
Actually, this was the exact file name: 452923516fa61b0698feabf31478
Now I'm a massive noob when it comes to these things, but when I was loading up my computer I noticed it was loading EXTREMELY slow today. Slower than usual when its start to desktop speed is usually 20 seconds. Steam was...
The computer I'm having a problem on is a HP G6- 635 DX Windows 7 x64. About a week ago I decided to disable a few startup items because my computer took too long to load up. I think I disabled something that I shouldnt have because the next time I restarted I had gotten stuck on the "Starting...

I have a home-built system with a Gigabyte MA74GM-S2 M/B & 2gb memory. My C: drive or drive #1is connected with an ATA and I have a second SATA drive # 0 H/D . My questionis since my Win 7 O/S is installed on the ATA drive can I designate the SATAdrive for the O/S?
Thanks, Bob
For some reason my cementmixer (brain) told me I could set up W8 in the following manner BUT it was a failure.
I used this procedure over 30 years ago on large IBM mainframes. The following was my logic:
On the C drive I only have 1 partition which is used for W7 files etc. I used diskmgmt...

I have Windows 7 Home Premium, 32bit laptop.
So this started with my accidentally deleting the 'My Documents'. At the time of deleting, i think it showed, My Documents is too large for recycle bin. That's why i can't find it there.
(I have tried 'Recuva' to recover deleted files, but...
I reinstalled windows 7 on my mother's computer, and just followed prompts throughout. Seems that I partitioned the hd with C and D drives. The C drive is where all files are at and seems to be the startup drive, and it's only 15 gigs. It is now full. D has 180 gigs and nothing on it. So - how...
Ever since I recovered from the virus/trojan attack in December, my PC hasn't been the same. I keep getting a pop-up from malware-bytes and spy-bot about a smitfraud c.generic and svchost.exe problems. Needless to say, there is something happening that I can not put my finger on and realize...
I was contemplating using a Raid 0 array as my primary C: drive with OS. I understand all the issues with that and do regular daily backups. I used to use Acronis which had no trouble with a raid array. But on this new build I was wondering if the built in backup tools would be able to image and...

I have an Intel Motherboard which I am changing to a Gigabyte one.
If I were to do this myself, I would take proper steps to insure that Windows will boot with the new hardware. I would update my Intel Sata controller driver to a Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller. Then, SHUTDOWN the...

I have an issue pertaining to admin permissions and read-only files. It seems all my files and folders are read only, and when I remove read only it automatically reverts back to read only when I check again. I am administrator with full privileges. Sometimes I get a prompt saying 'i need admin...
Hi
I posed a few days ago someplace that I found that defragmenting my C:\ drive gave me a real increase in read speed. From about 3 Mbs to 30.
I defraged my B:\ drive (a partition of C:\) and today I tacked D:\ it was a long haul, mostly because it has the compressed back up of C:\ on it...
Hey guys, I got a problem installing Gears Of War in other partition but C.

Can't help it I have Installed it 4 to 5 times but...
Hi
I know that fragmentation makes a lot of difference.
I've had times when the difference between having fragmented files vs un-fragmented files would determine whether some processes would complete or not when generating 3D video.
If the files were fragmented it would just hang up after a...
