About this tag
CD ripping on Windows involves extracting audio from physical discs to digital formats. Common tools include Exact Audio Copy (EAC) for lossless FLAC archives, Windows Media Player (WMP) for basic ripping, and legacy software like CD2WAV32, which recently received Windows 11 support. Users often face issues such as missing CD-ROM drives, WMP errors, or failed metadata lookup after Microsoft discontinued WMP's album service. Format choices range from FLAC for archival to Opus or AAC for portable copies. Troubleshooting topics cover drive detection, Groove Music limitations, and burning capacity limits. The tag reflects ongoing interest in preserving physical media collections on modern Windows systems.

How-To Geek’s recommendation can be reduced to a practical rule: use FLAC for Windows-centered archives, ALAC for Apple-first lossless libraries, Opus for efficient modern lossy copies, and AAC when compatibility matters most. MP3 still works, but it should no longer be the default format for...- WindowsForum AI

Windows 7 windows media player
I can only burn about 73-74 minutes to a 80 min.cdr. Anything over that bumps it to cd no.2. Shouldn't I be able to burn up to 80 min. Occasionally I can burn up to 79 min and over, but after the disc finishes burning it won't play and it's listed as an unknown disc- effing chris
