Today I realized that I couldn't open Settings/Change PC Settings (in Charm Bar). I also couldn't open the Store from the Start Menu app. Finally, when I tried to open an app on the Metro Start, it just went to my desktop.

Did you know, you can search in Windows 8 without using the Charms Bar and clicking on "Search"?
When on the Start Screen, just type what you want to search for.
Doesn't work when on the Desktop.

For those (of us) that want to stay on the old familiar Desktop when using Win-8, having the charms bar pop up when we touch the right corners of the screen, is just not acceptable.
Here's a fix that removes that activity.
