Hi guys,
About 2 weeks ago, I switched from Xp to 7 and I must say that I love it, even if I was a little bit reluctant.
There is 1 thing that I cannot seem to find a solution for: to search for a certain file type AND a word from the contents.
Right now, I'm searching for a certain solution...
How does one search within a folder for files that include a "[" in their filename? For instance, when I want to search for all files that have "[a" in the filename, Windows 7 search ignores the bracket and instead returns all filenames that contain a word that begins with "A" instead. This has...
How can I get my old XP File search program back? I really dislike this new version of searching files in Windows 7. In XP it was so easy Click Start - Search - File and Folders. Now it Click on Windows Explorer - click on Computers - click in the search windows type in your search. I'm still...
Several times each week under Vista, I would search 4 of 16 folders under a master data folder for all files that were modified in those 4 folders on one specific day. This was an easy one-step operation using Vista's Advanced Search capability. I selected the four folders with the Browse...
I love a fast clean system that will focus all it's attention to the tasks I
give it to perform. So I turn off or optimize all features that I don't need to
run all the time.
Here are the tweaks I start with.
User Account Control
When you are tweaking features you will be prompted to...
admin approval
control panel
defragmenter
disk space
features
filesearch
hibernation
maintenance
performance
search indexing
services
settings
speed
system optimization
task scheduler

WE search can't search the libraries.
U MUST go the the folder location/drive/whatever and...
I have a program (DXBase 2007) that always stored it's INI file dxb2007.ini) in the Windows folder.
Since installing Windows 7 RC1 and installing this program, I can NOT find the .INI file anywhere on my computer.
I have the windows folder view settings set to show ALL files and folders...
Hi
In windows XP i could search multiple files at one with the use of a comma.
For example 2452,2452,2462,5632 would return the files 2452.jpeg 2452.jpeg 2462.jpeg 5632.jpeg
This method allows me to find all of the images I require.
However in my use with Windows 7, I have yet been able to...
I can not search pdf files using built-in Windows Search. I have Adobe Reader 9.1 installed which comes with the proper ifilter. But, when I go to indexing options it says "Registered IFilter is not found". I even downloaded and installed the standalone IFilter provided by Adobe but still...
Windows 7 search is driving me completely crazy. I have a data CD with a lot of files and folders. Nested in a folder is a file called cdboot.ima.
I put in the data CD, bring up an explorer window to see the root of the disc, and then type in cdboot in the search bar. Win7 promptly tells me...
I have Win 7 RC installed and I have found out that the search does not work at all. When I write a file or folder name and press the search arrow NOTHING really happens. The fact is that sometimes, under certain conditions or wrong options Windows does not show the propper search result. But in...

Hi guys -- when something's not broken why fix it as the Engineers say -- I haven't yet been able to get the Library management / search facility to work properly. It might be OK if you just want to look for documents / pictures etc but I'm always "Hot swapping" discs (often quite large one's -...
