I am a traditionalist and so run permanently in "desktop" mode because I don't like the look and feel of the new Windows 8.
Ever since I installed Windows 8.1 a blank green Microsoft "Store" window pops up from time to time on my desktop. When I click on it, the green is replaced by a normal...

Windows Update is set on Manual.
I hid the Bing Desktop v1.3 last time it appeared.
Today, it pops up in Windows Updates again.
I googled and apparently a lot of people are having the same issue.
I cannot find a resolution from the net.
Anyone has an idea?

Hi,
I have a trouble with my Office Word 2010. I can not look up new words in Word 2010. In the past, I often Ctrl+Right Click to get new words' meaning at once, but when I installed the Window 7 (64bit) because my RAM was upgraded to 4GB, I can not do as I used to. When I Ctrl+Right click, it...

For some reason, at random, a little information box will pop up, saying I/O Error 32, and all I can do is press 'OK'. But if I don't, it pops up with the box multiple times and doesn't stop.
Could anyone tell me what could possibly be causing this? It's starting to get annoying.
Thank you!
A webpage in the Internet describes a way to get rid of this unnecessary and disturbing pop-up whenever you connect an external drive. It is to disable the service Shell Hardware Detection. I did, but the pop-up still comes occasionally.
Is there a more effective way?

Dose our government use Vista? That would explain a lot. I can see why they thought there were WMD's in Iraq from a misunderstood pop up during an Age of Empires network game.
I have installed Windows 7 on a brand new notebook (Sager np 8662). So far everything is working great with one exception. Whenever I click on the red x or the explorer icon -> close to exit from IE8 I get a warning pop up that tells me:
