I have an HP laptop that came with Windows 8 installed. One of the automatic updates ran and changed pathways to my files. If I click on Libraries, my documents, music, and pics that were there before the upgrade are not there now. I have to click c:/users/myusername/ then whichever folder...

Hello!
Got problems with Start up.
I decided to copy all DLL files from RecoveryCD System32 to the %windir%\System32 in hope it will help to start it. Now it does'nt matter what I chose in the Boot Menu ... it always boots a Start-up Recovery like if it was from a Recovery Boot CD. I tried to...

Hi
After having a failed attempt to go back to an earlier restore point (the computer just sat there for ever saying that it was restoring the registry, so I finally shut it off) my computer wouldn't boot so I tried several attempts at automatic repair from the disk etc.

Hi
I'm pretty reliable as far as creating restore points before I do anything major.
The problem is that when I look for them later they aren't there.
Even though I use an app called Restore Point Creator and make my own they don't hang around very long.
Is there a way to make Windows retain...

Hi
Today I was getting a little audio distortion in a new game I'm trying out.
So I decided to update the drivers for my Creative SB Recon3D PCIe sound card.
The problem was probably with the game not the drivers but I figured what the heck I might as well keep things up to date.
I downloaded...
I'm stuck at this screen. Starting Windows normally sends me back, and startup repair "can not fix this computer automatically". Choosing the other modes sends me back as well. I don't have a restore point, and I don't want to reinstall windows and lose all my files for a 2nd time in just a...
Hello there!
On Friday, I started having a problem with my system, running Windows 7 Ultimate, where I get a BSOD right at the login screen. Computer boots up normally, the blue login screen pops up, and immediately goes to the BSOD with BAD_POOL_HEADER at the top. It then will go back through...
Recently managed to brick my computer by trying to clear up some space on my C: drive. I checked 'Compress Drive'. The problem is when I boot up my laptop it goes straight to a blank screen with the following:
WIDTM is compressed.
Press ctrl+alt-del to restart.
I can't access safe mode. I can...
Hi
I updated my video drivers and it screwed up some settings.
I want to use a restore point to restore the settings to before I updated.
I can see in CCleaner that I have restore points from before the update, but I can't find anyplace in Windows 8 to use one of them.

On my system I have an SSD,so I have (Windows Restore) turned off. When I download a program and try to install it ,it says creating a Restore Point and sits there for a while. A log while. I have found that I can go into Safe Mode and install things with no problem, fast. Even after it is...

Does file history also create a restore point?
It was nice to have that restore point to where is you blue screened you could reboot and restore to a recent, previous system state.
Doesn't really say anything in the file history settings page, and I'm curious.
Thanks for any insight...
