Windows Vista Connection in one room but not in another

Windows 7 Loss of signal strength
Since upgrading my NC8000 Laptop to W7 (from XP) I have noticed a huge reduction in wireless signal strength. Once I could sit in the lounge room and surf on the laptop, now I'm lucky to get 10 foot away from the AP and lose connectivity straight away. Has anyone else eXPerienced this?- Aussie
