After a sudden power loss forcing the computer into a hard shut down, the first thing I noticed was my UAC setting being reset from "Never notify" to the default.
Since that has been changed, I think it's possible other things have been changed as well. Why would these settings change after a...
Task Manager can’t replace dedicated tools such as Process Manager , but the application has seen incremental improvements with each major Windows update. In 8 and 10, it even includes a new tab, called “Startup”, that lets you see which applications are slowing down the boot process. More »...

I experimented with these 2 procedures and the instructions for moving the entire contents of the folder is flawed. Even as Administrator you cannot copy or move the ntuser.dat files in Network services & Local services. What can be done if you want to move or copy the directory...

Hello, does anyone know of any software that watched the MSCONFIG list? I'm sick of going in there and finding software that has enabled itself to startup.
Hi,
Does anyone know any good maintenance software for Windows? I currently use ccleaner and it's great, but I want to know if there is any other software out there that might provide more functionality and is free.
Thanks! :)
From the desktop create a new shortcut for services.msc. Complete the process and the services icon appears and works fine. My question is where is that particular (gear like) icon stored? or a link to a dl site would also suffice. Many thanks
I need to make a shortcut to bring up the shutdown/restart dialog box. The same dialog that comes up when you hit ALT-F4 on the desktop as Admin. In Windows Server 2012 R2. Anyone know how to trigger that?
Thanks.
Hey, does anyone know which is the best benchmark for testing the all-around performance of a Windows device? I don't wanna pay for it so it'd better be free.

When I turn on my laptop (ACER), open Windows 7, after a few seconds the memory usage of explorer.exe increases significantly to reach 2Gb after a couple of minutes. Then, the system is very slow and I have to kill explorer.exe.
I tried mostly everything:

Thought I'd try to get some insight here -before- I drive myself nuts and spend hours troubleshooting why I can't get the device manager to start. I even went to the system32 folder and tried to run it from there.
Also from the start menu, services, performance monitor, computer management...
I would like to get more knowledge on system tools and computer management focusing only on how they can help in a troubleshooting. I was humiliated in a job test and so I am trying to avoid that it happens again .... In internet I found the standard things....I would like to get as much...
