Hello
I think there is a statistical diffeence between MSE with Win 7 native firewall as opposed to Norton Security Suite offered free by my isp.
I know subjectivty plays a large role in the choice but as an unskilled user I can only rely on substantial information -that is why I am here...
Last week the Maps APP did not work; said it couldn't find my location.
On a whim, tried it tonight & lo & behold, it works! Nicely, too.
Hope it's an omen...
Bit by bit, maybe, the APPs will get finished. We're still a few months away from release.
Weather one is nifty just, wish...
Hi,
I wonder, is there a way to disable the CTRL+MouseWheel (changes the way an folder displays itself)?
I have a mousewheel which flows freely, and when holding ctrl to like choose files etc the wheel is sometimes still spinning and this changes viewmode for the folder rapidly. VERY annoying...
Put a CPU gauge, like the All CPU Meter (gadget) not, the silly thing that is in the default Gadgets offering on the Desktop in a dual-boot set up w/ 7 & 8. Go back & forth between the 2 OSs, do the same sort of tasks & activities on each. You will see the resource usage is significantly &...

Hello, I am in the process of ripping an audiobook to my hard drive, but one or two of the discs report read errors and stubbornly refuse to be ripped. I have been using AudioGrabber, NCH's Express Rip and Windows Media Player so far. They all stumble on discs 7 and 8 in a big way; they hang...
Research In Motion is preparing to release its much-awaited response to the iPad, the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, a month behind schedule.
Among other reasons, Adobe Flash is probably contributing to the delay.
The PlayBook was supposed to be out the first quarter of 2011 but is now set to...

A major update to Apple’s iOS IDE was released a few days ago and so far Xcode 4’s weaknesses seem to greatly outweigh its strengths. After having spent a bit of time with Xcode 4, I am strongly considering going back to the old version. Google “i hate xcode 4” and you’ll see I’m not the only...
In this video, I interview a couple of LightSwitch team members, Mike Droney (Tester) and Sheel Shaw (PM), as they walk me through a real application that was built for our Admins in order to track hardware assets across the developer division. Mike and Sheel talk about the requirement gathering...

For the life of me, I can't find how to disable that little rectangle with arrows on either end that keeps popping up to help me! Can't even figure out what to call it except Satan.
I don't know if it is associated with that critter, but I can move my mouse and find all my text shrinks or...
I’m on my second Windows 7 Phone, not because I had a huge problem with the first one, but only because the new one has a real keyboard and I’m still not a fan of phones that use screen keyboards. read more

Discovered this neat tool that allows the user to copy a file name to the clipboard
with a right click menu item.
Clicking shift at the same time will also copy the full path.
Great if you need to enter the full path to a file in a form etc.
Copy filenames to the Windows clipboard with...
If I copy-paste some folders and files, there are just sooo many confirmation-dialogs for overwriting files and folders. This makes me nuts as I have to do loads of this each day.
In the glorious days of XP there was just the simple:
"do you want to overwrite this?"
[yes] [no]
So with only...
Hi - I'd like to perform file searches like they used to be in Windows XP. I could search for multiple file types by typing : *.xls, *.ppt, *.doc
and restrict the date, and even files that contained certain words within the files.
I can't seem to do this as well in Explorer for Win7pro, I can...
