Ok, so i got a new samsung tv. Hooked up hdmi to my r9 200 gpu and ran it at 1920 by 1080. It was great, filled up the whole screen and everything. Then i got curious and changed the resolution to 4160 by xxxx and it looked great, but now when i switch back to 1920 by 1080, it does not fill up the screen anymore. Just about the size of a piece of paper...

I didnt do anything else but change the rez.. how do i set it back to 1920 but fill the screen?

Thanks

Did you try to change the resolution both on computer and on the TV?

Did you restart the computer after changing the resolution, to test?

Yes, i changed the resolution on both multiple times and restarted pc. Tried different hdmi ports and same thing.

Its very strange. Never had this happen to me before haha

Thats what o was thinking. But i have been through every single setting 3 times...

Here is photo at 4k res and one at 1080p. All i did was change it from 1080p on the pc to the 4k display res, and then i wanted my 1080p back. Hit revert settings, since the 15 seconds was not up yet, and then this happened. So strange to me

I think the tv is "stuck" at the 4k, because when i select the hdmi port it says uhd and shows the res as 4k, even though the pc is set to 1080p. Trouble is, no options what so ever to change it...

You should be able to rescale the monitor using AMD's Radeon software or the monitor itself. However, why not just run it native at 4K? If the display res is 38240x2160 you can scale to text, apps, etc 150-200%. It may be difficult to get used to at first, but at least you would be running at native resolution.

Edit: I see you may be on Windows XP and this could definitely... cause a problem in 4K.
