I recently installed Windows 7 SP1 and a whole bunch of updates.
I just noticed that my laptop's DVD drive seems to have vanished! It's no longer listed under my computer and doesn't appear in device manager. Scan for hardware changes makes no difference. If I insert a disc, the motor runs and the light on the drive flashes but Windows doesn't notice a disc has been inserted.
I'm sure it was working not long ago and the updates are the only thing I can think of that have happened since.
Help! What might have gone wrong? Any suggestions how to get Windows to realise I do actually have a DVD RW drive?
