Windows 7 Blue Screen when Hibernate, Sleep, Restart or Shutdown

I uninstalled mcafe n replaced it with Avira Antivir ...updated it. but still no luck still BSOD at shutdown. here's the dump that i got. any ideas?
well for some reasn the.dmp file wont run with windows debugger but blue screen view shows them all as INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR 0x0a blaming the NT kernel and in my experience of sleep and hibernate problems it will be a third party driver that doesn't like the power down command >

make sure you have the latest drivers for your BIOS, your motherboard and drivers for your chipset and gfx card and any other significant hardware ?

I also found this article which suggests "the size of the Hibernation file is not large enough for the current memory contents can be loaded on the system." ?

follow it and see if it helps ?

First of all follow ickymay's above post and the link he gave you:

Fix Windows 7 Hibernation Error (STOP 0×000000A0 INTERNAL POWER ERROR)

See how it goes.

Also, I'd suggest full system scan for malware and to make sure you have no unknown devices that are marked as yellow in windows device manager.

System scan - what I mean is this file:

Code:
[B]\SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\[U]SPTD2701.SYS[/U] (deferred) Mon Jul 13 19:45:55 2009[/B]

☛ Right click on it to see its properties.

☛ You can use your current Avira, but I would also scan with Free ESET Online Antivirus Scanner.

INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR (a0)
The power policy manager experienced a fatal error.

as well as the previous suggestions I would run a diagnostic check on your hard drive and if its an SSD make sure it has the latest firmware ?

i did the hibernate fix n checked for walware. still the problem hasnt gone away. and yes there is a unknown device in device manager the 'pci simple communications controller' (using unkown device identifier it says @sysm32\drivers\pci.sys)
i installed win 7 last week with latest drivers for my motherboard n gfx card from their publishers website n no problems then.
i upgraded from xp so should i try installing the chipset driver for xp n install it in compatibility mode?? i dont want to try mess things up more ,wat do u suggest?

Try to find out if this is a real physical device or perhaps virtual?
Look up in the properties what manufacturer/software it belongs to.
Also try out your system with the device disabled.

The issue may come from the upgrade, you would have been better off doing clean install. In the command prompt type:

chkdsk /f - checks NTFS
sfc /scannow - verifies system integrity

How about this, I'm indeed curious:

\SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\SPTD2701.SYS (deferred) Mon Jul 13 19:45:55 2009

Right click on it to see its properties.

No, if that's Windows 7 you have now than much better is to install 7 compatible drivers. I don't see any seriously outdated drivers in your latest crash dump.

You could update Realtek Audio (fall 2010) to the latest, and replace Avira with MSE - but this step won't fix you. So, follow our previous posts and kindly report on each step you tried.

this is the hardware Ids in device manager of the unknown device
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29C4&SUBSYS_50448086&REV_02
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29C4&SUBSYS_50448086
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29C4&CC_078000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29C4&CC_0780

^shows as SCSI Port driver

i tried to disable and uninstall it but still it BSOD at shutdown in both cases.

and by 'clean install' u mean formatting my C drive (which xp was installed in) and then installing win7..i did

here are the dumps i got just now after trying a couple of things and restarting/shutdown

edit: no integrity violations found. both scan came out clean

That's quite a few unknowns, shouldn't be any unknown or suspicious devices at all. Update each one of them individually, not from device manager and not via windows update.

Uninstall MagicISO, by the way:
mcdbus.sys Tue Feb 24 05:42:13 2009

If this was my PC, I'd personally backup all data of importance and format the hard drive and reinstall the 7 OS, do clean install as opposed to an upgrade. Next step I would update all devices with the latest 7-compatible drivers. Install MSE. See how it goes and I would take it from there.

Same error again:

If this was my PC, I'd personally backup all data of importance and format the hard drive and reinstall the 7 OS, do clean install as opposed to an upgrade. Next step I would update all devices with the latest 7-compatible drivers. Install MSE. See how it goes and I would take it from there.

[/code]

I actually got fed up of shutting down my pc directly from the power socket that i did do exactly just that. n guess wat no more BSOD at shutdown..n i did everything like last timei.e installed the same drivers, installed antivirus (nod 32 this time on friends recommendation),some basic codecs n softwares.

the thing that i think got it to BSOD is the windows update, before i reinstalled win7 i was going through the updates i installed, i got them all on the same day n it was dated just before the first minidump (the first time it BSOD on shutdown). so this time im staying away from them.
oh n just after i reinstalled win7 i checked device manager, the unkown device is still there (which isnt the case when i had winxp), so i guess that wasnt causing this..... maybe...lets see, ill let u guys know if anything comes up

Thanks for all ur help. n thanks for the quick replies

Thank you for the update too, we were glad to offer assistance.

What I'd like to repeat:

- one is not supposed to have as many unknown devices as you do, all required drivers must be installed including the network drivers that seem to be missing in your crash files;

- no old drivers, uninstall or updae your old MagicISO (Feb. 2009)

- it is not normal behaviour for a windows update to cause blue screens, I feel there was something more to it than a "bad" or missing kb update

- clean install is always preferred since upgrade is known to bear all kinds of problems.

Hi.

I have a HP ProBook 4440s with Windows 7 Professional x64.

I have been facing BSODs while hibernating from yesterday. When I hibernate, the screen turns off but the lights from the power button and wifi buttons don't go off. But it turns off after a long time. When I start laptop again, there is a start windows normally screen. After starting it shows that windows has recovered from a serious error window. The event is shown to have the name Blue Screen.

I have fully updated with all important updates. I have installed no software between when laptop was working perfectly and when it started giving problems. I has tried to install a desktop gadget (Digital0clock0Bad0G.I.Joe001.0.1.4.gadget) but its setup got stuck in the initialization process and I forced it close from the task manager. and didn't try to install again

Anyway I have attached the dump file. Hope my problem gets fixed.
