I am trying to install the Broadcom Bluetooth stack via their software install program SetupBtwDownloadSE.exe. My BT dongle is a Rocketfish RF-mrbtad installed in a USB port. Operating system Win 7 64 bit SP1.

The installation application crashes at the "verify bluetooth" stage of installation and the expanded error code is as follows:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

Does anybody have a workaround for this? The standard MS drivers do not support all the services I need for my mobile phone, and I know the Widcom drivers do.

Thanks.

Are you showing a Microsoft Enumerator in Device Manager under Bluetooth Radios?

You did download the installer for the Micro adapter and not the other one?

You might try changing USB ports.

When you start the installer, right click and select run as admin.

Try turning off any real time Virus protection you currently have.

Turning off Avast! while running the installer WORKED!! Thanks Saltgrass! Great tip!

MS BT Enumerator installs as soon as dongle is placed into the USB port.
Downloaded the Broadcom WINCOM SetupBtwDownloadSE.exe from the Broadcom site.
Tried on multiple USB ports with same error condition.
Always ran as admin.
I will try stopping Avast! on next attempt. Good idea.

Solution
I'm having the same issue and it crashes at the verification as well.
The only differences are that I have AVG and I've tried disabling it and my BT is internal it still crashes
