I have had no problems with my VM Vector Holiday edition 2010 until now.
Only modifications were 1) addition of OSZ SSD (6 months ago), 2) upgrade of video card (2 months ago) [3) new logitech keyboard/mouse 2 months ago.]

Crashes started today, first in Skyrim, and then during normal use. Next crash - rec'd a message that cpu overclocking settings were lost, and I returned to the default (non-overclocked) settings. Still crashing.

Performed a new virus (AVG) and malware scan - no issues. Win update - no issues, uptodate. Latest AMD gpu drivers already installed and checked. SFC /scannow - no issues. The last 2 reboots the boot drive was initially not found, and I had to put the SSD (back) at the top of the boot drive priority list. Win7 runs, but system installs many drivers upon startup.

See attached zip for diagnostics, and really appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

Solution
Most likely it's a problem with a hard drive.
1) Disconnect all hard drives except for the SSD and then see if it boots When doing this, make sure that the system is unplugged from the wall and that you hold onto the metal of the case while unplugging the connectors (both the power and data cables).

If it still doesn't boot, then unplug the SSD and reconnect the other HDD's - then see if it gets past the Marvell screen (it may not boot as you may not have another bootable drive in the system).
Hi -

The bugcheck on 2 dumps = 0x7a (,0xc000009d,,) = kernel data could not be read

The more important item here is exception code 0xc000009d -

Code:
[FONT=Lucida Console]ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc000009d - STATUS_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED

DISK_HARDWARE_ERROR: There was error with disk hardware[/FONT]

There is a likely problem with your SSD.

Check manufacturer's site for upgraded firmware.

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR (7a)
The requested page of kernel data could not be read in. Typically caused by
a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error. Also see
KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR.
If the error status is 0xC000000E, 0xC000009C, 0xC000009D or 0xC0000185,
it means the disk subsystem has experienced a failure.
If the error status is 0xC000009A, then it means the request failed because
a filesystem failed to make forward progress.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000020, lock type that was held (value 1,2,3, or PTE address)
Arg2: ffffffffc000009d, error status (normally i/o status code)
Arg3: fffffa80083b77c8, current process (virtual address for lock type 3, or PTE)
Arg4: 0000000000000000, virtual address that could not be in-paged (or PTE contents if arg1 is a PTE address)

John, Thanks

I had updated the firmware before installing win7 to this SSD, to be complete, I rechecked with linux boot tool, confirmed OCZ 2.25 (latest available). Even re-installed it.

Could this simply be the SSD (hardware) failing?

Could this be an issue with the Marvell controller? I saw this on another thread, but I cannot find any updated drivers for the
Marvell 91xx STAT 6G controller on their website. My version is 1.0.0.1036, dated 3/17/2010.

Again, appreciate your thoughts.
Best, TAF

Most likely the Marvell controller thing was from one of my posts. The issue with it is that the drivers hadn't been updated since 2011 (and those are difficult to find). I have found the older controller drivers just aren't able to effectively control SSD's - it takes drivers dated from late 2012 in order to see any sort of stability (IME).

My suggestion is to use another controller and make sure that that controller driver(s) is dated from 2012 or later. (in most cases this controller is bundled on a motherboard based on the Intel chipset - and the Intel storage drivers have been updated to 2012 or later).

I had collected the ASUS motherboard update files that is supposed to also update the Marvell controller drivers. The system had been fairly stable (win7 booted, BSOD less frequently) when today I had another 7a BSOD. Now, after the BIOS init screen comes up, the following is displayed and the system hangs.
Marvell 88SE91xx Adapter - BIOS v 1.0.0.1025
Initializing...
Regardless of what I do when the BIOS screen pops up (even ALT F2 to try the EZ flash I was planning on), the system will not move past the Marvel init hang.
Any advice on how to potentially get around this to try to update the BIOS or ideas about what the problem may be at this point?
I cannot access any additional dump files, since I cannot get past the above.
Thanks

Most likely it's a problem with a hard drive.
1) Disconnect all hard drives except for the SSD and then see if it boots When doing this, make sure that the system is unplugged from the wall and that you hold onto the metal of the case while unplugging the connectors (both the power and data cables).

If it still doesn't boot, then unplug the SSD and reconnect the other HDD's - then see if it gets past the Marvell screen (it may not boot as you may not have another bootable drive in the system).
