Windows 7 BSOD within 60 seconds of running IE8

Hi

I have a new medion akoya pc (off ebay) running windows 7 32bit. After loading a couple of pages in IE 8 I will get a bsod. Firefox seems to manage for about 10 minutes before quitting.

After a BSOD it will have another dump soon after restart without starting IE8 - after that it seems ok as long as I dont start any browsers .

thanks in advance.

Are you running Norton? If so it may need updating..

I don't see any Norton.

Update the Realtek HD Audio driver:

Code:
 RTKVHDA RTKVHDA.sys Mon Jul 20 07:15:20 2009
Realtek

---------

Uninstall both Bullguard and Outpost Security using the special tools found here, in safe mode. They're too old:

Code:
BdFileSpy BdFileSpy.sys Thu Jan 22 06:43:28 2009
afw afw.sys Wed Feb 18 08:27:52 2009
afwcore afwcore.sys Wed Feb 18 08:28:26 2009
AV Uninstallers - Windows 7 Forums

Then install MSE in normal mode to replace.

It's ok I think i got my dumps mixed up, apologises for any confusion..

Hi

Thanks for the help - I followed the instructions and the computer ran for about 5 mins with IE8 before this dump.

The desktop is simply called the Medion Akoya desktop V1 - no other numbers etc.

thanks,Shumit

I would suggest going to Start > Run, and uncheck everything including MSE temporarily and see what happens.

---------

While at NVIDIA's site, download and install the latest NVIDIA nForce chipset drivers for your motherboard and install too.

Reg, that's not going to help at all. There isn't even a run command on the Start menu by default. Any method even similar to that at all is not how to solve bsods.

Cybercore, spldr.sys is part of Windows 7 OS. It involves checking for authenticity. It's a good file and nothing to worry about.

I know Daemon Tools run at startup (although not necessary)

Alcohol 50 or 120%........unsure of.

I was simply going of of Cybercores post:

Yes, but if you actually looked at the crash dumps, you'd see that there is no Daemon Tools or Alcohol installed. Even so, that wouldn't stop neither of them from running at startup, even if one of them were present and even if you posted the correct way to do what you meant with msconfig.

Hi

Im a bit confused as to what to do next - unclear about this alcohol path?

Ive run Belarc - results are attached - and yes it is the one you found.

latest BSOD attached after updating the nvidia drivers.

thanks,Shumit

One of your drivers is corrupt and not working well, although they all seem to be well.

In this case, it is going to be very good to use Driver Verifier to flag the offending driver. After enabling and a crash happen, then post and we might have a solid answer for you to do something to fix it.

Here's how to enable Driver Verifier:

Driver Verifier - Windows 7 & Vista - Tech Support Forum

Please post any and all crash dumps after doing so.

(I think it still involves your nForce drivers from NVIDIA, since they don't seem to be updated yet.)

Run Driver Sweeper in safe mode + networking, from Guru3d.com to clear all the NVIDIA video drivers, files and setting. Then while also in safe mode, install the latest video driver from NVIDIA's site again.

Then reboot to normal and install the NVIDIA driver again so that you have the control panel.

The procedure should be followed exactly as above for specific reasons.

Code:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)
Invalid system memory was referenced. This cannot be protected by try-except,
it must be protected by a Probe. Typically the address is just plain bad or it
is pointing at freed memory.
Arguments:
Arg1: 9747f6fc, memory referenced.
Arg2: 00000000, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation.
Arg3: 8d8dd61d, If non-zero, the instruction address which referenced the bad memory
    address.
Arg4: 00000001, (reserved)

Debugging Details:
------------------

Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\nvlddmkm.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for nvlddmkm.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for nvlddmkm.sys

followed all instructions - seems to have stopped BSODs but now have a very unstable pc.

IE tabs keep disappearring saying there is a problem with the page - incl this one.

Winzip will not run or reinstall correctly.

After 15 minutes approx the pc will shutdown without dumping and without me doing anything on the pc. I'm hoping I will get a dump soon so that you can see whats going on.

any diagnostic tools I should try?

Ive had to restore back to a point before this last fix. The machine was freezing up within seconds of logging on, then I lost my desktop, no windows would open, etc. At least before it only happened on browsers, not windows explorer.

Im starting to wonder if Nvidia is really installing correctly. For instance someone said it looked like I hadnt installed the new drivers but Im very sure I had. Also the machine became so unstable after really cleaning out the nvidia drivers. Attached is my most recent dump. Could someone check if the latest nvidia drivers are there.

Also in the instructions about installing nvidia from safe mode, when the install reboots the machine should I return to safe mode? And then reboot and install in normal mode.

thanks,Shumit
