I have a network consisting of three machines. All of them have Windows 7 Ultimate, One of them is a 32 bits Desktop PC, the others are two 64 bits laptops. I installed all three machines using the same configuration other than the Windows 7 x64 and x32 settings.

I'll name them PC, laptop 1 and laptop 2.

I created a homegroup for these three machines.

I happens that folders shared from laptop 1 can´t be opened from the other two machines. I get a message saying that I don´t have permission to access them.

But this laptop 1 does open folders shared from PC and laptop 2.

I checked password protected sharing settings and it's turned off.

What could it be?

Go to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Change advanced sharing settings -> Turn on network discovery. - Confirm that file and printer sharing...

Share Permissions: - Review the sharing permissions of the folders shared from laptop 1. Right-click on the shared folder -> Properties -> Sharing -> Advanced Sharing. - Check that the Everyone group has Read permissions or Full Control if desired. 4. File and Folder Permissions: - Next, check the file and folder permissions of the shared folders on laptop 1. Right-click the folder -> Properties -> Security -> Edit. - Make sure that the appropriate user accounts or the Everyone group has the necessary permissions to access the shared folders. 5. Firewall and Antivirus: - Temporarily disable the firewall and antivirus on laptop 1 to see if they are blocking the file sharing. - Add exceptions or rules in the firewall settings on laptop 1 for file and printer sharing. 6. Restart the Computers: - Restart all three computers after making changes to settings to ensure that the changes take effect. By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue of shared folders from laptop 1 not being accessible by the other machines in the Windows 7 homegroup network.
