Windows 7 Can't play games and movies show choppy

Ever since I installed windows 7 ultimate on my Dell Dimension 2400 my pc games crash on startup (NBA 2k10 to be specific) and my movies run slow and choppy. I have a ATI x1900 graphics card but when I go to Device Manager/Display Adapters it says Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. I am seriously considering uninstalling windows 7 and reinstalling xp. Before I go that far I wanted to see if there is anyway to get my games and movies working correctly on windows 7.
