There is a monitor with a DisplayPort input port. There is a desktop computer with an HDMI output port. Is it possible to connect the two?

you need an adapter like this:
37229

and a HDMI cable between the adapter and desktop
There might be cables that have one end HDMI male and the other DisplayPort, in that case you don't need this adapter.

I think the adapter in your photo converts DisplayPort signal to HDMI, but not vice versa.

I don't think so. Anyway you can find the right one for you online.

The suitable adapter would be too expensive for an adapter. I'll buy a new monitor that has many different digital ports.
