FixShell.exe file released by Prevx yesterday shows nothing obviously malicious.
It contains a valid XML manifest, and a code certificate backed by VeriSign. And
in fact, on our test system with Sophos anti-malware installed, not only did the
file not appear to run any process of its own on startup, it did not appear to
do what Prevx said it would do: make adjustments to the System Registry. E-mails
to known Prevx addresses bounced back this morning, as though no one were
actually present at the firm.

On a company blog, director of research at Prevx, Jacques Erasmus admits that
the Black Screen of Death is in fact caused by malware, not by the Microsoft
security patch. He adds, "We apologize to Microsoft for any inconvenience our
blog may have caused."

Here is their claim... it may fix something, who knows.

One of the most knwon issues as far as Windows operating systems are concerned
is the famous blue or black screen of death erros also known as bsod. Here is
what to do to fix such an annoying error.
1.Reboot your computer.
2.Wait for the blue (or black) screen to appear.
3.Now, Press the CTRL, ALT and DEL.
4.Click Start Task Manager.
5.Click the Application Tab.
6.Click New Task.
7.At this point enter this command: “C:\Program Files\ Internet Explorer\ iexplore.exeâ€Â￾ “http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?GRAB=BLACKSCREENFIXâ€Â￾
8.The above command will try to download from the Internet (so, make sure that your Internet connection is ON!), a small program called Fixshell.exe.
9.When prompted, click OK. Your Internet brwowser will start download the file from the Internet.
10.Restart your computer.
11.Done!
