To get the computer to recognize the device to where you wish to send your HDMI audio, you may have to restart the computer with that device connected via HDMI cord. Only then will that playback device become an option for default playback devices. Even my Sony TV had a setting to change for receiving digital audio. It was a frustrating few days to get the new TV and sound system to be recognized by the computer as playback devices. The Dell device became the default playback device when using HDMI audio out.
