It's just a regular mic, not a headset or anything fancy. But it worked on vista, now it's not working. On the sound check thingy for it, it worked fine but on Ventrilo it doesn't T_T

Help? :D

Solution
It seems like you're experiencing issues with your microphone after upgrading from Windows Vista. The fact that it works during sound checks but not on Ventrilo could indicate a configuration issue within Ventrilo itself. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Check Microphone Settings in Windows:
    • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Sounds."
    • Go to the "Recording" tab and ensure that your microphone is set as the default recording device.
    • Check the levels and make sure the microphone is not muted.
    []Ventrilo Settings:
    • Open Ventrilo and go to the Setup menu.

    ]Test Microphone:
    • Use the built-in Windows voice recorder to verify that the microphone is working correctly outside of Ventrilo.
    • Press Windows Key + R, type sndvol and hit Enter. Check the microphone levels here.
    []Update Audio Drivers:
    • Outdated or incorrect audio drivers can cause microphone issues. Update your audio drivers to the latest versions from the manufacturer's website.
    [
    ]Check Ventrilo Configuration:
    • Ensure that the microphone is enabled in Ventrilo settings and that the correct input device is selected.
    []Reinstall Ventrilo:
    • If the issue persists, try uninstalling Ventrilo and reinstalling the latest version.
    [
    ]Run as Administrator:
    • Right-click on the Ventrilo shortcut and select "Run as Administrator" to see if it resolves the issue.

      Additional Tips:

      • Ensure that the microphone is securely connected to the correct port on your system.
      • Restart your computer after making any changes to apply the settings.
Give these steps a try, and hopefully, your microphone will start working on Ventrilo again. If the issue persists, feel free to provide more details for further assistance!
