Windows 10 How to Recover Forgotten Password for Remote Desktop Access

I have forgotten the password I need to access my desktop PC from my laptop. How can I recover the password?

It is stored in the desktop PC system but you didn't tell us what that is or what network type you have so we can't help you more than that.

Puget custom computer, Asus motherboard, Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit upgraded from Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Home network with router, switches, and two APs.

Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit upgraded from Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

1. a microsoft id eg blackork@hotmail.com will unlock the desktop/ shares if the desktop computer has being updated to a full Microsoft account... fyi a fresh WX install will default to this.
   
2. If you just left the w7 upgraded as a local account then that should be the password now,
   
3. unless you didn't give it admin rights or didn't set a password for the local account... in which case your out of luck.
