This should fix any WEI problems and allow full AERO.

I got W7 run'in smoothly, but it seems Aero is not supported (intel 915 chipset).

I tried your suggestion> didn't work so it looked like, tried the W7 registery hack for Aero too > system frooze.

In safe mode I could change the registery, now its back to Aero themes's enabled.

But no transparant Taskbar etc.

I get the message :

The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver.

_ Can that get it fixed?

_ Can I change the color of the taskbar to Black? (how?)

- Can I use third party progam for a Vista Aero Look?

Hope there a some solutions.

Is this possible?

Aero is supported by your graphics card, and apparently your is not a better quality card.

There are some programmers writing programs to change the look of Vista and/or Windows 7.

You might want to do a Googl;e search on this....something like "alternate Windows interface".

One company I know of is Stardock:

Thx. for reply.

I know Stardock, gonna try it.

Can these issue's be solved in the RC or Final of W7?

Or is my laptop simply not compatible /modern enough?

I think this is the problem with Intel 915 Chipset not with your computer because I also had one Laptop of Dell which had the same problem and could not make it Aero enabled.. If some help it'll be greatly appreciated...

So only if Intel releases new drivers , than it's possible?

I hope this will happen, man this superbar in blue is hurting my eyes!!

"man this superbar in blue is hurting my eyes!!"

Superbar???? Are you referring to the Taskbar? Mine is a very pleasant and easy on the eye light gray.

Anyone sorted out this problem yet? I have the same Graphics Chipset, It works 100% with advanced effects in ubuntu and Windows Xp, just not in windows 7.

try going to the Start menu, search for fix problems, select Fix problems with transparency and visual effects.

This will bring up the Aero box ans allow you to test your computer ti see if it's compatible.

The video card is :

Graphics Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900, with up to 128 MB of shared system memory
Display Internal 12.1-inch TFT XGA (1024 x 768 resolution and 16 M colors)

I suppose it is enough to handle the aero?

Yes, you need a driver (Windows Display Driver Model).

Try this link, it takes you to a page to update the chipset. It's work a try:

Here's a hack I came across, can't read it too well, contains strange characters:

If you try that hack, make sure you set a system restore point!!

I also came across this inside the manual of my laptop (HP NC4200):

Windows Vista Capable Not all Windows Vista features are available for use on all Windows Vista
Capable PCs. All Windows Vista Capable PCs will run the core experiences
of Windows Vista, such as innovations in organizing and finding information,
security, and reliability. Some features available in premium editions of
Windows Vista -- like the new Windows Aero™ user interface -- require
advanced or additional hardware.
