Windows 7 Items in Favorites on WE sidebar disappeared

all the items that were under Favorites in the sidebar of Windows Explorer have disappeared.

The link to the Download folder was there - the actual folder is still under users.

what happened?

Type favorites into Start/search and hit Enter. What do you see?

If you right click favorites, does the Restore Favorite Links help any?

I don't suppose you just collapsed the tree...

shows me FAVORITES
clkg that it open WE at the user\favorites folder which does not contain a link to the downloads folder.
There r links there but those do not appear under the FAVORITES sidebar folder.
