There are two computers with Windows 7, on wireless network, and another computer connected right to the router with Windows XP. I have tried to play music from one computer with windows 7 to the other one with Windows 7, but WMP does not see the library, it only sees the XP library. I have gone through the settings, and I have tried to share my music folder with the "Home" group but it does not seem to work. If I try to access that computer from the other in the network folder, it says it cannot be accessed.

Anyone else have this problem, or know how to help me?

Solution
To troubleshoot the issue you are encountering with Windows Media Player (WMP) not seeing the music library from one Windows 7 computer to another Windows 7 computer, while being able to see the library from the Windows XP computer, you can try the following steps: 1. Ensure Network Discovery is Enabled: - Check if Network Discovery is turned on for both Windows 7 computers. You can enable Network Discovery by following these steps: - Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings. - Make sure that network discovery is turned on for the network profile you are using. 2. Ensure that WMP Sharing is On: - Enable media sharing in Windows Media Player on the computer where the library is...

Ensure that WMP Sharing is On: - Enable media sharing in Windows Media Player on the computer where the library is located. To do this: - Open Windows Media Player. - Click on the "Stream" option at the top and then select "Turn on media streaming." - Follow the prompts to set up media sharing. 3. Check File and Printer Sharing: - Ensure that File and Printer Sharing is enabled on both Windows 7 computers. This allows shared access to files and printers on the network. - Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change advanced sharing settings to check this setting. 4. Check Permissions and Sharing: - Confirm that the folder containing your music on the Windows 7 computer is shared with the correct permissions. Make sure it is shared with the "Homegroup" or "Everyone" group with appropriate read/write permissions. 5. Firewall Settings: - Adjust firewall settings to allow WMP to communicate through the network. You may need to create an exception for Windows Media Player and related services. 6. Check Network Connectivity: - Ensure that both computers are connected to the same network and can communicate with each other. You can check this by pinging the computers from each other. 7. Restart WMP and Computers: - Sometimes, restarting Windows Media Player or rebooting the computers can resolve networking issues and refresh the network connections. 8. Alternative Media Streaming: - If WMP continues to have issues, consider using alternative media streaming programs like Plex, VLC, or other media server solutions. By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with sharing the music library between the Windows 7 computers on your wireless network.
