Hello, Windows enthusiasts! If you’ve been waiting to try out some fresh tools and features in Windows 11, today is your lucky day. The Windows Insider Program Team has just released two new builds—22621.4247 and 22631.4247, collectively tagged as KB5043145. These updates are now live for Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel, helping you tap into the latest and greatest from the Windows 11 universe.

What's Cooking in This Update?

These builds target Windows 11, version 22H2 (Build 22621) and version 23H2 (Build 22631). But what's actually inside these updates? Let's break it down into two main categories: Gradual Rollout and Normal Rollout.

Gradual Rollout Features

Some features may take their sweet time to reach everyone, so keep an eye out for these:
  • Start Menu: The revamped Sign Out option now takes center stage when you click on your account icon in the Start menu. More intuitive, right? If you need to switch users, just tap on the ellipses (...) to get a list of users handy.
  • Taskbar: Now you can share local files directly from the search results in the taskbar’s search box. It’s like having a mini Dropbox right under your fingertips!
  • Settings: The Delivery Optimization Settings page has been aligned with the new Windows 11 aesthetic, making it easier to navigate. You can access it by heading to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > Delivery Optimization.
  • Windows Share: The update does away with the search box from the Windows Share window. Less clutter for a smoother experience!
  • Lock Screen: For all the music lovers out there, media controls now sit pretty at the center of the lower part of the lock screen when tunes are jamming. No more fumbling around when you want to skip a track!

Normal Rollout Features

These enhancements are being deployed more generally:
  • Internet Explorer Mode: There have been improvements to Microsoft Edge when using IE mode, ensuring that it doesn’t stop responding unexpectedly. A sigh of relief for those clinging to legacy web apps!
  • Transmission Control Protocol (TCP): Fixes have been made to address inconsistencies between TCP_INFO_v1 and GetPerTcpConnectionEstats, enhancing TCP connection performance tools - particularly for file synchronization services.
  • Country and Operator Settings Asset: Updates to COSA profiles for various mobile operators also come with this release.
  • Encrypted Emails in Outlook: If you’re tired of being prompted for your PIN every time you open an encrypted email, Microsoft is looking into it. Your patience is much appreciated!
  • Microsoft Defender for Endpoint: Users have reported issues with Work Folders failing to sync while Defender is protecting the system. Thankfully, this update aims to resolve these hiccups.

Conclusion: Keep Your Windows 11 Fresh

As always, the Insider builds breathe new life into Windows by introducing exciting features and important fixes that aim to refine your operating system experience. Whether you're switching users seamlessly, controlling your music without distractions, or enjoying swifter file sharing, there’s something for everyone in these updates.
Remember, these features may not roll out to all users at once, so if you don’t see the changes immediately, don’t fret! Each update is a step towards a more polished Windows 11 experience.
As always, keep sharing your feedback through the Windows Insider Program—we rely on your insights to make Windows better for everyone!
Stay tuned for more updates, and happy computing!
