Ok, I've tried everything I know but nothing seems to help, so I'm going to ask here.

I have a DELL STUDIO M1737 with an OPTIARC DVDRWBD BC-5600S the problem I'm having is whenever I insert a disk into it, the whole of explorer.exe locks-up, even clicking it, and properties with not disk in it and the computer locks-up, then I have to wait 15-20 minutes before it actually performs the option I clicked, or for the disk options to show up.

The drive worked perfectly in VISTA just does not in Windows7 does anyone have any ideas.

Fix that worked for me

Hey guys, I was having the same problem with my OptiarcBD5600 drive on my Dell Studio 1735 laptop with Windows 7 and a friend of mine found the following fix and its pretty simple.

1. Download the latest Chipset and Storage Matrix Drivers. The ones for my laptop were found here Link Removed due to 404 Error

2. Make sure you have the latest firmware for the Optiarc BD Drive, which, via Dell is version 10AB03 which can be found here Link Removed - Invalid URL.

Those two steps allowed me to having a working Blu-Ray player. In fact the combination of those 2 things and Windows 7 have my Laptop working better than it ever has before.

I hope this post can help people having the same...
I havent yet tried to burn a disc since it is extremely slow.I can get dvds to play but the video chops
