Im having this random BSODs even when doing nothing. Also most of my apps encounters the "has stopped working" error. I tested my memory using Memtest+ with atleast 5 passes and has no errors. I also used the windows memory diagnostic and no error reported. I tested my HDD using seagate tool and has no error either.
I even tried system factory defaults but still getting these BSODs.

Its a 1 year old laptop BTW..

It sounds like you've already taken some good steps to diagnose the issue with your Asus K42Dr laptop experiencing random BSODs and application crashes despite testing the memory, HDD, and restoring to factory defaults. Since the issues persist, there are a few more things you can try to troubleshoot and resolve these problems: 1. Update Drivers: - Make sure that all your device drivers are up to date, especially the graphics card driver (ATI Radeon HD 5470) and chipset drivers. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause stability issues. You can visit the Asus support website to download the latest drivers for your specific model. 2. Check for Windows Updates: - Ensure that your Windows 7 operating system is fully updated...

Outdated drivers can sometimes cause stability issues. You can visit the Asus support website to download the latest drivers for your specific model. 2. Check for Windows Updates: - Ensure that your Windows 7 operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, Microsoft releases updates that address stability issues and improve system performance. 3. Check Event Viewer: - Use Windows' Event Viewer to check for any error logs or warning messages that might provide more details about the crashes. Look for patterns or specific error codes that could help identify the root cause. 4. Run System File Checker (SFC): - Use the System File Checker tool to scan and repair corrupted system files. Open a Command Prompt as an administrator and run the command sfc /scannow. This will check for system file integrity issues and attempt to fix them. 5. Check for Malware: - Perform a thorough scan for malware using a reputable antivirus program. Malware can sometimes cause system instability and random crashes. 6. Hardware Check: - Even though you've tested the memory and HDD, it might be worth trying another diagnostic tool like CrystalDiskInfo for the hard drive health and additional memory testing tools. 7. Check System Cooling: - Overheating can also cause system instability. Make sure your laptop's cooling system is functioning properly and isn't clogged with dust. Consider using a laptop cooling pad for better airflow. 8. Disable Automatic Restart on BSOD: - By disabling automatic restart on BSOD, you can note down the error message displayed on the screen which can provide valuable information about the cause of the crashes. By following these steps, you may be able to identify the underlying issue causing the BSODs and application crashes on your laptop. If the problem persists, you may need to consider seeking professional help for further diagnosis and repair.
