I tried to install the win 7 upgrade on top of my Vista OS
The directions said to have an external HD
I did not have one and tried to install anyway.
Now, when I turn on the computer I get the choice of Vista or Win 7 !?
Also, my Recovery disk of 15 GB is full.
Because it is full I cannot load another program into the machine.
How can I fix this?
Vista was 32 bit, home ultimate.
The Win 7 was an upgrade install of Home Premium.:frown:

Cayman100,

It sounds as though you installed Windows 7 into your recovery partition. How long did the upgrade install take?
When migrating from Windows Vista to Windows 7 you will have the option to select "custom" or "upgrade" install when prompted. By selecting the "upgrade" option, your documents and applications will follow and carry over through the install process. If you select, "custom" however you will be able to perform a clean install and all applications will have to be reinstalled manually -- documents will be moved to a folder entitled "windows.old". Do you remember which option you selected and which partition. Also, did you begin the upgrade install from within Windows Vista?

An upgrade is not the route to take. It leaves useless files on your system and can cause conflicts.

Save all you Documents, Pictures, contacts, videos, music, etc to a flash drive,

Be aware, you will need to re-install your 3rd party applications.

You don't even need the factory recovery partition,. that would take to OS back to Vista.

Could you upload a screen shot of Disk Managment?
