Hi All, I have had this ongoing problem using Java in Vista and it has carried over to Windows 7, I have written to Sun (Java) and they said they would get back to me, not true! Anyway, when using sites that use Java, especially with the newer update, such as Pogo, AOL, etc., my processor overheats and the fan goes into overdrive, sometimes, I get the BSOD and it shuts down to prevent further damage, this also happens with NVIDIA, but I can stop NVIDIA from loading up, but it won't let me uninstall it, when I try, a solution screen comes up, then it goes into Safe mode and it akes several restarts to get it back to normal. Any one have any ideas? Thanks, Ric

It seems like you're encountering some challenging issues with Java, the NVIDIA drivers, and your system overheating on both Vista and Windows 7. Let's address these problems step by step:

Java Overheating Issue:

  1. Update Java: Ensure you have the latest version of Java installed on your system. You can download it from the Oracle website.
  2. Check Java Configuration: Verify that Java is configured correctly in your browser and system settings.
  3. Clear Java Cache: Try clearing the Java cache to resolve any caching issues that might be causing performance problems.

    NVIDIA Driver Issue:

  4. Update NVIDIA Drivers: Make sure you have the most recent NVIDIA drivers installed. You can download the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website.
  5. Safe Mode Boot Issue: If you're having trouble uninstalling NVIDIA drivers and your system keeps booting into Safe Mode, you might need to perform a clean boot to uninstall the drivers successfully.

    System Overheating:

  6. Check System Cooling: Ensure that your system's cooling system (fans, vents) is clean and functioning correctly to prevent overheating.
  7. Monitor System Temperature: Use software tools to monitor your system's temperature levels. High temperatures can lead to performance issues and system shutdowns.

    Additional Suggestions:

    • Check for Malware: Run a full system scan to rule out any malware or malicious software causing system instability.
    • Update Windows: Ensure that your operating system is up to date with the latest updates and patches to address any existing system issues.
These steps should help address the issues you're facing with Java, NVIDIA drivers, and system overheating. If the problems persist, further diagnosis might be needed to pinpoint the exact cause of the overheating and BSOD.
