I have run sfc/scannow in win 7, and have followed instructions to run sfc at boot in command prompt, but nothing has solved the errors. i have saved the file sfcdetails.txt to desktop, and have extracted only the problematic parts and saved it in another file problems.txt
kindly check the file, as i have attached it here.

all the files are either .inf or with .nlp extensions.
windows is running fine. but i want to get rid of the problems before they become a serious issue. I have a pre-installed OEM version of win 7 basic SP 1, and i have a HP G6-1117TX laptop. There is a drive named "System", which is the active and boot-able partition, and is not the same drive where windows is installed. Plz help..... I have no windows installation DVD.

OK, lets see if we can sort this out. It seems you have 8 files that are not being replaced.

big5.nlp
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727"\[l:16{8}]"big5.nlp
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727"\[l:16{8}]"big5.nlp

This file appears to be part of the .Net 2 install. Not sure what might be required to repair it.

The remaining files are .inf files which are used to configure devices and load their drivers. For some reason these are all in the same folder. Since they are used by drivers, possibly reinstalling the devices might repair these for you, but you will have to look.

I will take just one of the 7, and the rest are similar. You may find problems in your Device Manager where some devices are...

I will take just one of the 7, and the rest are similar. You may find problems in your Device Manager where some devices are showing a yellow triangle. That might help pinpoint the devices.

msmouse.inf

Cannot repair member file [l:22{11}]"msmouse.inf" of msmouse.inf, Version = 6.1.7600.16385, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type = [l:24{12}]"driverUpdate", TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, file is missing

msclmd.inf ---- smartcard

msports.inf -- Not certain about this one, possibly PCMCIA/Smartcard, many companies are mentioned, possibly Printer,GPS or Phone.

mtconfig.inf -- Microsoft Input Configuration Device-HID_DEVICE

mstape.inf -- This file contains installation information for IEEE 1394 Tape Subunit devices.

mpio.inf -- SCSIAdapter

msdv.inf ---- This file contains installation information for IEEE 1394 DV Camera and VCR devices

I don't really understand the SFC method of finding replacement files, but you might check the following locations and see if you can move one into the C:\Windows\inf folder. Security may need to be changed and be aware of bit version when doing this. Hopefully this will not be necessary if reinstalling some drivers above will correct the problem. The actual reference locations will be different depending on the name of the file, the bit version, and the Windows 7 version, SP1 or not.

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\msmouse.inf_amd64_neutral_7a5f47d3150cc0eb

C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_msmouse.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_aa28fd23ec0c39f9

You did a good job extracting the information...

Edit: I did find this concerning .Net 2
On my Windows 7 Microsoft. NET Version 2.0 is installed but - Microsoft Answers

Also, I have seen Manufacture's installs that trigger the SFC errors because they have altered them.

Thanx a lot Saltgrass
I will do what you said, and report back to you..
when i run 'dxdiag' its showing 'windows 7 home basic 64-bit(6.1, build 7601).
i checked in 'Computer'; its showing it to be win 7 home basic service pack 1
i also checked device manager, but couldn't find any yellow spot or any indication of problems with any of the devices.

The link that you had specified really enlightened me about the .net framework and all, and i have found a .net verification tool that i will run and see. i think i will update the drivers and see.

your're right HP has several installations done in this laptop, and it might be the cause for all these
. I hope driver updates will correct everything, otherwise i will follow ur instructions of moving files into the c:\windows\inf folder.

Thanx a lot :) really appreciate the help, will tell u what happened.

Just for info Hailstorm,

It might just be a typo but it is sfc /scannow not sfc/scannow (note the space between sfc and /!).

ya your right, Elmer, thank you for pointing this out...
but i didn't make this mistake while running the scan, otherwise the scan wouldn't have run on the first place.

I have run the .net verification tool found in this location:
Link Removed - Invalid URL

and it has found that the big5.nlp file is not installed in my system, i am copy-pasting the error report.

I checked for .net 2.0 sp2, .net 3.0 sp2, .net 3.5 sp1, and .net 4

so does anyone have a good copy of the big5.nlp files present in
C:\Windows\Assembly\GAC_32\mscorlib\2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089\big5.nlp
C:\Windows\Assembly\GAC_64\mscorlib\2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089\big5.nlp ????

plz if Saltgrass or Elmer or anyone else has them, be kind enough to upload it for me...i would be really grateful....
:(

and about the .inf files, if anyone has these files:
msmouse.inf, msclmd.inf, msports.inf, mtconfig.inf, mstape.inf, mpio.inf, msdv.inf plz upload it here....

big.nlp file is asscociated with the .net framework, and in this case .net 2 sever pack 2.

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\sbscmp20_mscorlib.dll
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\WPF\wpftxt_v0400.dll
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\WPF\WPFFontCache_v0400.exe
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\WPF\wpftxt_v0400.dll

ok these are 3 .dll files and 1 .exe file that i need too, and the above are the locations. and the version of .net framework is 4.030319

so if anyone has all or either of these files, plz upload. I'll be greatly indebted...........
