Windows 7 Troubleshooting Boot Failures on MSI GT780DX Laptop Running Windows 7

My laptop (msi gt780dx) restarts upon windows 7 logo screen. When attempting the repair option, it displays a 'windows is loading files' bar but won't progress past it. The same thing happens when trying to boot from a windows 7 install disc except it hangs on the logo screen instead. It also fails to boot in safe mode and last known good configuration. Any suggestions?

The repair option of Windows 7 is quite hopeless, it hasn't helped me once. I think the only way is to reinstall the whole thing.
