Windows 7 Where can I find these answers????????

I have resolved the XP-W7 network issue, but it was brute force and now I want to make sure I didn't compromise something.

I need to understand and know who various USERS refer to like:
EVERYONE
NETWORK
GUEST
GUESTS
HOME USERS (as opposed to Home Group)
SYSTEM

I give all of these except the guest accounts full control. I also go to advanced settings, and add the name of the other computer, and the network to the allowed list.
