  • Suddenly BSOD crashes on programs such as outlook 2007 (yes, even in safe mode), word 2007, photoshop & illustrator (if attempting to do anything font related)
  • Crashes when attempting to open fonts folder
  • Have gotten Bad Pool Header, System Service Exception and Page Fault In Non Page Area BSOD - The computer refuses to write a memdump, and I have checked to make sure that it's supposed to
  • Have run sfc /scannow, Chkdsk, startup repair, safe mode, system checks of all nature and nothing's coming back with any error. Also temporarily turned off everything in msconfig startup menu - still crashed.
  • Did a restore but problem exists
Trying to find if there's a solution before reinstalling everything
Thanks!

Hi Thanks for the quick reply, I stated in my post: The computer refuses to write a memdump, and I have checked to make sure that it's supposed to

Do not rely on what Windows says, see their dates in the properties. If it says something like fall 2009, then do you best to update them - visit manufacturers' support sites. Also, if any of their software is listed in CP>Programs and components, it's a good idea to uninstall them first.

Thanks TorrentG

OK, did all that (but renamed sys files to sys.old in the event I actually needed them)

Still crashes

Cybercore - BTW, it does have the Startup & Recovery settings similar to what you referenced - it just doesn't generate them for some reason

Run CPU-Z. Post a screen shot each of the spd and memory tabs.

In the meantime, definitely uninstall the Cisco software (PureNetworks)...probably meant to create home networks or whatever is it you have from them. It is known faulty under Windows 7.

The PureNetworks part's been working for the past year, could it still be an issue?

Memory is set unwell in the bios. Go to the bios and Load the Optimized Defaults. Save. Reboot and post a new memory tab screen shot.

(It's currently very underclocked and running too slow, which causes issues.)

As I've said, PureNetworks is a known issue on Windows 7 that causes bsods.

I uninstalled The Cisco stuff.

I looked into the BIOS and didn't anything regarding Optimized Defaults, so hit F5 Load Setup Defaults. I think the CPU-Z listing is still the same now as the previous one - but - my computer is working now!!!!!!!!!

I sincerely appreciate the help I've gotten here today!

You're welcome. The memory is still underclocked. What you want to try to do is set it manually so that it is running at 667 MHz with the these timings: 9-9-9-25

If you look at the memory tab, you can see that you are now at ~533 MHz with 7-7-7-19 timings.

It may be somewhat difficult for someone not used to going in the bios, but if you mess anything up, all you have to do is reload those defaults again. Check your motherboard manual for help along the way if you do try. This way, the memory will work at the speed it was made for instead of slower, like it is now.
