I have win7 ultimate 64 and win xp 32 installed in seperate partitions.

dxdiag in xp reports my graphics memory to be 1gb which is the memory size of the graphics card.

dxdiag in win7 reports the graphics memory to be something like 2.7gb so I assume some system memory sharing is going on.

anyone know how I switch off system memory sharing for graphics in win7?

To adjust the amount of system memory allocated to graphics on Windows 7, you can typically find these settings in the BIOS/UEFI of your computer rather than within the Windows operating system itself. Here's how you can check and possibly adjust the shared graphics memory settings in your BIOS/UEFI: 1. Accessing BIOS/UEFI: - Restart your computer and during the boot process, look for a message such as "Press [Key] to enter Setup" or something similar. The key to access the BIOS/UEFI varies depending on your computer manufacturer (common keys include Del, F2, F10, or Esc). - Once in the BIOS/UEFI settings, navigate using the arrow keys, and look for an option related to "Integrated Peripherals," "Video Settings," or similar. 2...

Adjusting Shared Memory: - Depending on your BIOS/UEFI version and manufacturer, the option to adjust shared graphics memory might be named differently. Look for terms like "Graphics Settings," "Integrated Graphics Configuration," or "System Configuration." - Within these settings, there should be an option to set the amount of system memory allocated to graphics. You can typically choose from predefined values or set a custom amount. - Adjust the shared memory allocation to a lower value or disable it completely, depending on your preferences or system requirements. 3. Save Changes and Exit: - After making the necessary adjustments, save the changes in the BIOS/UEFI settings. This is usually done by navigating to the Exit menu and selecting the option to save changes before exiting. By decreasing the shared graphics memory in the BIOS/UEFI, you can potentially reduce the amount of system memory used for graphics purposes, thereby increasing the available system memory for other applications and processes. Please note that the exact steps and options in the BIOS/UEFI can vary significantly between different motherboard manufacturers and models. If you're unsure about making changes in the BIOS/UEFI, it's recommended to consult your computer or motherboard's manual or seek assistance from a technical expert to avoid any unintended consequences.
