Recall Homepage

  • A new personalized homepage in Recall makes it easier and faster to find and reconnect with the apps and websites that matter most to you.
  • After opting into snapshot collection, the homepage will:
  • Display your most recent Recall snapshots for quick resumption of previous tasks.
  • Show the top 3 applications and websites you've spent the most time on in the past 24 hours.
  • You can filter which apps, websites, and content types are saved in snapshots for privacy.

Navigation Bar in Recall

  • There’s now a left-side navigation bar for faster access to Home, Timeline, Feedback, and Settings within Recall.

New Settings and Features (with toggle enabled)

Move On-screen Hardware Indicators

  • You can now move hardware indicators (like brightness, volume, airplane mode, and virtual desktops) to different positions: bottom, top left, or top center.
  • Find this new option in Settings > System > Notifications > Position of the onscreen pop-up.

Start Menu Changes

  • Admins can set Start Menu pins to apply once, after which users can customize their own layout safely. (Via Start Pins policy and CSP.)

File Explorer

  • AI actions in File Explorer are being re-rolled out. These may have temporarily disappeared for some Insiders.

Settings

  • The country/region selected at device setup now appears at Settings > Time & language > Language & region.

Fixes (Gradually rolling out to Beta Channel with toggle on)

  • Input issues in Search, Chinese pinyin IME candidate windows, clipboard history, and emoji panel fixed.
  • Fixed explorer.exe crashes for users with Italian display language.
  • File Explorer Home bug showing only one folder resolved.
  • File Explorer performance improved when many SharePoint sites are synced.
  • Windows Update uninstall history now sorts by date.

Fixes for Everyone in the Beta Channel

  • Windows Vista boot sound no longer plays incorrectly; reverted to Windows 11 boot sound.
  • "Reset this PC" works again.
  • Certain KVM virtual machines now boot correctly (no more "UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR" error).

Known Issues

  • Temporary build install process for new Beta Channel joiners: requires updating to 26120.4250 first.
  • PC reset might show an incorrect build number.
  • Some updates may fail to install (error 0x80070005); a fix is in the works.
  • New Start Menu issues: unreliable touch navigation, limited drag-and-drop, possible duplicate folder entries.
  • Xbox controller Bluetooth bug (fix available: uninstall xbox controller driver from Device Manager).
  • Long wait times for Click to Do AI features on initial use on AMD/Intel Copilot+ PCs.
  • Accessibility (Narrator) may not work properly in certain File Explorer AI result windows.
  • Widget pinning isn’t fully supported in the new widgets board experience.

Reminders

  • Feature rollouts in the Beta Channel can be gradual and may require enabling a toggle in Windows Update settings.
  • Features in preview may be changed or removed before public release.
  • Some features may arrive in Beta Channel before Dev Channel due to parallel development.
