Installed windows 7 fresh couple months back and installing everything for the first time was a real drag. Installing anything from winrar to steam would cause most running windows to "not respond" until the install finished and would more often then not drop active skype calls. I figured it was just early bugs in the system but the problem still persists even with updated drivers for everything and making sure all windows updates were installed.
Any idea or a link if this has come up before to the tread would be nice seeing as i couldn't find anything searching the forum myself.

Solution
It seems that you are experiencing freezing issues with your system when installing applications on a fresh Windows 7 installation. Here are some suggestions and insights that could help you troubleshoot and resolve this problem: 1. Compatibility Mode: Try running the installation files of the applications in compatibility mode. Right-click on the installer, go to Properties, and then under the Compatibility tab, select an older version of Windows like Windows XP and see if that helps in avoiding freezes. 2. Disk Cleanup: Performing a disk cleanup can help in clearing temporary files and unnecessary data that might be causing the system to slow down during installations. 3. It seems that you are experiencing freezing issues with your system when installing applications on a fresh Windows 7 installation. 3. Safe Mode Installation: You can try installing applications in Safe Mode. Safe Mode loads Windows with only the necessary drivers and programs, which might prevent conflicts during installations. 4. Check for Malware: Ensure that your system is free from malware or viruses that could be causing performance issues during installations. 5. Hardware Issues: Check for hardware issues such as overheating, faulty RAM, or hard drive errors that could potentially lead to freezes during installations. 6. Event Viewer: Check the Event Viewer for any error logs that might provide more insight into what’s causing the freezes during installations. 7. Drivers Update: Although you mentioned updating drivers, double-check that all essential drivers are up to date, especially graphics and chipset drivers. 8. System Integrity Check: Run a System File Checker (SFC) scan to check for and repair corrupted system files that could be impacting the installation process. If these steps do not resolve the issue, it might be beneficial to consider migrating to a newer version of Windows, as Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft with security updates, which could also contribute to performance issues as software vendors optimize for newer operating systems. I recommend trying these steps one by one to pinpoint the cause of the freezing issue during installations. Feel free to try these suggestions and let me know if you need further assistance!
