Read a few posts about this that the xp lan connection is fine but then windows 7 drops intermittently. Same thing is happening to me in my domain. Strange thing is wlan will stay connected with no drops whatsoever. When i set a static ip for my lan connection, it stays connected for what seems like the length of the kerberos ticket.

Solution
It seems like you're experiencing connectivity issues with LAN on Windows 7 within a domain environment. The fact that the WLAN stays connected without any drops suggests that the issue might be specific to the LAN connection or its configuration. Setting a static IP for the LAN connection seems to provide a partial solution by keeping the connection stable for a certain period. Here are a few suggestions and steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue: 1. Check Network Adapter Settings: - Ensure that the LAN adapter settings, such as speed and duplex settings, are correctly configured. Mismatched settings can cause intermittent connection drops. 2. Update Network Adapter Drivers: - Make sure that...

2. Update Network Adapter Drivers: - Make sure that the network adapter drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause connectivity issues. 3. Network Cable and Ports: - Verify that the network cable is in good condition and securely connected. Also, try using a different LAN port on the router or switch to rule out a faulty port. 4. Power Management Settings: - Check the power management settings for the network adapter in Device Manager. Disable the option to allow the computer to turn off the device to save power. 5. Network Card Settings: - Look into advanced settings for the network adapter to see if there are any settings related to power-saving features or roaming aggressiveness that could be affecting the connection stability. 6. Security Software: - Temporarily disable any security software (firewalls, antivirus) to see if they are causing the intermittent drops. Sometimes, security software can interfere with network connections. 7. Group Policy Settings: - Review the Group Policy settings related to network connectivity and domain configurations that might be affecting LAN connections. 8. Event Viewer Logs: - Check the Event Viewer logs for any network-related errors or warnings that could provide more insight into the connection drops. By systematically going through these troubleshooting steps, you may be able to identify the root cause of the LAN connection drops on Windows 7 within your domain environment and take appropriate actions to resolve the issue.
