Windows 7 windows 7 login screen

I ran a windows optimiser yesturday, unfortunatelty it has done something to my login screen which means the user account icons are no longer displayed and have to remember the user name and password. I have tried system restore, but this optimiser wiped all the restore points. i have also tried re-installing my windows 7 upgrade disk in the hope that this would restore defaults. still no luck. Any ideas would be apppreciated.

Exactly where did you get the software and does it have a log you could use to reverse the changes?
