I'm having trouble setting up my new home network. Here's what I have:
Desktop with Windows 7 is my access point.
Brand new NETGEAR wireless router.
Older desktop with wireless card and using XP Pro.
Laptop with wireless card using XP Home premium.
Internet works fine on Win 7 desktop. Win 7 identifies network as Network 4 (Home network) I can't use a homegroup because only one computer is using Win 7. Laptop finds the new netork but is desperately and unsuccessfully trying validate the identity so it can't even use the internet connection. I haven't tried anything with other desktop yet.
Where now?

Solution
Try turning off router wirless security temporarily and see if you can connect that way.(WPE/WPA)

If that works set up new wireless security WPA is the best in the router, that should fix your problem.

Solution
I think you have to use the traditional Network Explorer and ensure both machines are in the same workgroup. This way Windows 7 Networking with Win XP Machines
